Meet the Principal

Susanne Tieman

I began my journey in education at Butler University where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Education along with an endorsement in Special Education. I later pursued my passion for leadership and growth by obtaining a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Indiana University.

With 29 years of experience in education, I’ve had the privilege of serving in a variety of roles: 13 years as a classroom teacher (working in Special Education, teaching grades 2-4 as well as with English Language Learners), one year as an instructional coach, two years as an assistant principal and I’m now proud to be in my 13th year as a principal. This is my 8th year with Fort Wayne Community Schools (FWCS). Prior to FWCS, I served in the Norwell School District, East Allen County Schools (EACS) and Wayne Township.

Being a principal is truly the most rewarding job in the world. Every day, I am committed to creating an environment where students and staff feel safe, supported and empowered to grow and learn at high levels.

Outside of school, I’ve been happily married to Will Tieman for 25 years. We have a wonderful 16-year-old daughter, Olivia, who keeps us busy (and cheering!) with her volleyball games and racing events. At home, we’re big animal lovers and share our lives with our three dogs—Dexter, Benji and Toby—and two cats, Tiger and Trooper.
